From mouthwatering seafood to delectable meat and cheese selections, each bite tells a story of Venetian gastronomy. I recommend arriving in time to enjoy the sunset!
10. Sip an Aperol Spritz by Rialto Bridge
Join the locals in their favorite pastime and enjoy an Aperol Spritz by the iconic Rialto Bridge. No visit to Venice is complete without a romantic gondola ride. Embark on a journey through the winding canals, as your gondolier guides you under picturesque bridges and along enchanting waterways. Let the melodic sound of the gondolier’s singing and the gentle sway of the boat transport you to a bygone era of Venetian romance.
Tips for Gondola Rides:
- Confirm the price and duration of the ride with the gondolier before embarking to ensure a fair deal. Gondola rides are highly regulated and cost 80 euro for a 30 min ride. You will need cash to pay for your ride.
- Some gondoliers are not as friendly as others. If you book a photographer for a photoshoot, then they will know some good gondoliers they know personally.
- Avoid going during busy times and in the midday summer heat! Early morning or sunset are best!
- Find out the route your gondolier will take- avoid the Grand Canal so you can spend most the time on thesmaller narrow canalways.
- If on a budget take a shared gondola or for a very cheap (but short) ride- use the traghetto service and take a gondola to cross the Grand Canal for 2.50 euro.
- If staying at a hotel on the canal, ask for a route that allows you to be dropped off to your hotel at the end!
- Opt for a gondola ride away from the main tourist routes to explore the quieter and more intimate canals.
- Consider sharing the gondola ride with others to reduce costs while still enjoying the experience.
- Bring a light jacket or wrap to stay comfortable, as evenings can get breezy on the water.
Venice, with its unique charm and undeniable allure, offers a treasure trove of experiences beyond sightseeing.
